Announcement of CHATS-AS 2008
CHATS on Applied Superconductivity 2008 will be held at KEK in Tsukuba, Japan,
on October 30 - November 1, 2008, jointly hosted by Yokohama National
University (YNU), High Energy Accelerator Research Organization (KEK),
Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA), and Kyoto University (Kyoto U.).
The Workshop will take place immediately after ISS 2008.
The main objective of CHATS-AS is to advance the state-of-the-art in the
modeling of superconducting systems, from cables to magnets and other
devices used for power generation and trasmission, fusion, high-energy
physics as well as other applications. CHATS-AS has a special focus on
engineering-grade design and analysis tools based on novel models, methods
and simulation algorithms, and on the experimental validation of existing
design and analysis tools. We put particular, but not exclusive, emphasis
on gap-bridging research and multi physics problems.
CHATS-AS 2008 welcomes contributions fitting this program
philosophy, with a specific interest in the following topics:
Mechanical modeling of cables for better understanding Nb3Sn strand
degradation
Multi-physics modeling of HTS devices to increase understanding
of stability and, expecially, quench protection issues
Modeling in support of the design and development of cryocoolers,
and conduction-cooled superconducting devices.
The local organizing committee is pleased to invite you to participate in
and contribute to CHATS-AS 2008.
